St. Mary's Church

St. Mary's Catholic Primary School enjoys close links with St. Mary's Church in Chorley. Our school is an integral part of the life of St.Mary's parish, supporting and promoting Catholic ideals and the example of Christ to be followed in all aspects of daily life. Father Marsden is our Parish Priest and a member of the school's Governing Body. He is a frequent visitor in school.

During the school year, junior pupils (and occasionally Year 2 pupils) will attend St. Mary's Church for particular services. Parents are asked to co-operate as fully as possible with any arrangements which are made for such visits.

During the academic year, Mass is celebrated at the beginning of the school year, Harvest, Advent and for Holy Days of Obligation. First Communion and First Reconciliation pupils are regular visitors at Mass in preparation for receiving the Sacraments. During term time, Father Marsden visits school to allow the children to receive Ashes on Ash Wednesday.

Links with the wider family of the diocese are encouraged with our Good Shepherd Collection, which is presented by Year 4 at the Good Shepherd Mass. Children also collect for Derian House and CAFOD. At Harvest, our food collection and money donations are sent to elderly and infirm parishioners, the homeless and CAFOD respectively.

St. Mary's Parish Centre & Club is situated close to the Church and provides spacious and pleasant accommodation for any type of gathering where excellent facilities and a comfortable ambience are essential.

Information for children and parents who are interested in being Baptised and learning more about the Catholic Faith.

There have been several enquiries about children and adults receiving the Sacrament of Baptism and becoming a Catholic.

Also, there have been enquiries from parents who, like their children are already baptised in different Christian faiths, and now wish to be received in Full Communion in the Catholic Church.

I warmly welcome any parent/guardian who would like to make further enquiries into this.  Please contact me either by phone on 01257 262537, or at St Mary's Church, Mount Pleasant, or on email via stmaryschorley@yahoo.co.uk.

God Bless

Fr Francis Marsden VF
