Before Christmas we entered a bid with Tesco/ Groundwork/ Beattie ‘Bags of Help’ Scheme and we have just discovered that we are one of three groups in the North West region to have been awarded a minimum grant of £ 8 000 up to a maximum of £ 12 000 to further develop our woodland into an outdoor learning area. The amount we receive depends upon public voting at Tesco stores.
21/3/16 - UPDATE - THANK YOU!!!!! WE HAVE HAD CONFIRMATION THAT WE HAVE BEEN AWARDED THE SECOND PRIZE - A GRANT OF £10, 000. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO VOTED FOR US. WE WILL KEEP YOU UPDATED ONTHE PROGRESS.
As you know, we have a small wooded area in the school grounds that we would like to further develop. If awarded £8 000 we could install a seated circle (fire pit) and a canopy covering creating an outdoor classroom. We could also plant an approx. 40m border of small trees and shrubs. We would also like to install a number of mini lecterns where we could display and change QR codes giving information about children's learning. With a further £4 000 we would aim to create a natural path through the existing wooded area to facilitate disabled access. We would also like to enhance the area with wood carvings and totem poles.
